A few words from our readers

As an assistant girl scout troop leader, I wanted to thank the Fort William Photographic Society for putting together your links page! I hope you don’t mind me reaching out in these scary times…but I figured everyone could use a nice message these days!

With all the uncertainty happening with the coronavirus, our troop has decided to postpone all meetings for the next two months. (Just to be safe!) That being said, we still encouraged the parents to work with the girls at home to ensure we don’t fall too far behind!

I’ve been putting together a list of activities for our troop’s Junior Digital Photographer Badge that we’re working on. In addition to taking tons of photos, the badge requires the girls to learn about digital cameras from a club or experts and explain the elements and terms that can affect the quality of a picture. Your page led us to some great websites to check out – thanks for putting it all together!

I asked the girls to send me any websites they thought was noteworthy; one of the girls, Hannah, found this photography guide which I was very impressed with! I thought it would make a welcomed addition to your page!

Good Morning Fort William Photographic Society members,

I just wanted to quickly say thank you! I’m a librarian running a beginner photography class for 6th-9th-grade students, and I thought you all might enjoy hearing that we were able to get some great use out of your society’s photography links list. We were even able to use some of this information for our most recent group project. Thanks so much for sharing!

One of our youngest, Olivia has also asked me if I could share the article where she initially became interested in travel photography with you all, “New York City and Beyond: Photography Guide for Sightseeing” – I’ve listed it below if you’d like to review!

Initially, I was a little hesitant to reach out, but I thought this could actually be a really fun basic photography addition for anyone else coming across your information as a beginner, like Olivia! I wondered if you wouldn’t mind adding this one to your list? I find a little encouragement goes a long way and would love to show Olivia and the rest of the library group if you do choose to include it!

Thanks so much,

Danielle Stein
